Quality Assurance Lead Technician

Reports To: Quality Assurance Supervisor

Purpose of the Position: An alternate responsibility for overall food safety, HACCP/FDA/CCOF compliance, and quality systems management. The QA Technician will overlap in duties with Food Production and Warehouse Distribution teams to ensure that safe, quality food is produced.

Essential Functions:
Support in verifying and auditing compliance initiatives for Organic, Gluten Free, Health Department, SQF and other regulatory programs
Perform testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity
Assist in investigating and closing customer reported issues and complaints relating to food safety and quality
Assist in creating, documenting and implementing inspection criteria and procedures
Support promoting quality control and food safety philosophies to key personnel within company
Maintain an active role in internal continuous improvement programs
Assist in the design, development, and implementation of quality control training programs
Perform daily inspections and activities for product throughout production cycle
Address nonconformities from previous internal and external audits
Supporting in the review of the quality and food safety systems
Follow-up on and closing pending preventive and corrective action requests
Ensure that organizational systems and training are in place and are being followed accordingly
Ensure that documentation and design controls are appropriate for the organization
Administer support for the document control and configuration management system
Responsible for calibration and auditing testing program
Express ideas and thoughts clearly and with tact and diplomacy
Assist the management team and provide QA support as necessary
Promptly communicate all safety related issues and concerns
Any and all other functions as determined by management

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Maintain momentum and keeping employees on task to meet goals and deadlines

Required Experience/Education:
High School Diploma, or equivalent
1 year of experience in Quality Assurance or Food safety
Knowledge of produce preferred
ServSafe Certification preferred
HACCP, PCQI and/or GFSI knowledge preferred
Basic computer skills primary utilizing Microsoft Office and Google Sheets

Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly
Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
Regular stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, and walking

Working Conditions:
Must be able to withstand temperatures ranging from -20 degrees Fahrenheit to 70 degrees Fahrenheit
