Classic Box Menu 9/23-9/29

This addition to the HelloFresh Recipe Hall of Fame features the key to a crowd-pleasing dinner: sauce! Who could turn down a drizzly, creamy herb and Dijon concoction, especially one that’s draped across pan-seared chicken and roasted potatoes and green beans? No one, we say. At least not anyone we’ve met yet.

Instead of going the traditional route with these tacos, we decided to mix things up with a Korean-style sesame beef filling. The filling gets a kick from gochugaru—chili flakes traditionally used in dishes like kimchi and bulgogi. It’s an unconventional choice, perhaps, but one that lives up to the maxim that everything tastes better in a tortilla.

If you’re like us, you’ve seen a lot of stir-fries in your day. But thanks to our sweet hoisin shrimp marinade, aromatic rice, and a sprinkle of nutty sesame seeds, this one is bound to top them all. Even the pickiest of eaters will love it. Sounds like a win-win to us.

Chicken dinner? Must be a winner! Well, anything that’s coated in a layer of panko is a winner in our eyes because of its satisfying crunch. The breadcrumbs are dusted onto chicken pieces, then roasted in the oven to a deep golden brown. We recommend eating the chicken with your hands, because sinking your teeth directly into the juicy meat, with steam escaping and juices dribbling down your fingers, feels like a gustatory victory.

Pork has a way of embracing fruity flavors like no other protein. In this recipe, we’re smothering it in chunks of tender, saucy apple, which adds a welcome touch of sweetness. On the side, we’ve got sugar snap peas and a potato cauliflower mash. It’s so good, no one will notice that you snuck in some extra veggies!

We love a good, simple chicken breast. But to really elevate it, you’ve got to be creative with how you prepare it. In this recipe, our chefs took up that challenge, drawing inspiration from Italian saltimbocca. The meat is wrapped in slices of prosciutto, seared until it’s delightfully crisp, and placed atop a mushroom risotto with a drizzle of umami-rich truffle oil.

A Dutch baby is basically a next level pancake: the batter is poured into a pan, given a few slices of fruit, and baked in the oven until it puffs up like a big shot proudly and self-assuredly sticking out his chest. When you pull this marvel out of the oven, it seems to exclaim, “Look at me! I am big, beautiful, and I put all those silver-dollar-shaped ’cakes to shame.” So treat this Dutch baby with awe and admiration—few breakfasts are deserving of it as this one.

Bacon. Mac ‘n’ cheese. Need we say more? Okay, how about gooey, melty, bouncy, smoky, savory, and cascading with curls of cavatappi? Not convinced? Well, there’s a good amount of calcium-rich cauliflower in there too—roasted, not boiled, to bring out its natural sweetness and give it a crisp-edged tenderness that is sure to please.
