For this rich, flavorful meal, we took our cues from the classic French stew boeuf bourguignon. We slow-braised the beef in hearty red wine along with pearl onions, cremini mushrooms, and Parisian carrots. Our creamy, cheese-enriched garlic-herb butter mashed potatoes complement the hearty braise, adding a depth of flavor that will have you saying oui oui! Wine infused meat, what more can you ask for? The texture of the mashed potatoes were just right and blended well with the sauce. Didn't care too much for the texture of the pearled onions, but then again I haven't had them before so I can't say whether or not they were the way they were supposed to taste. Overall Yum!
Giving this one three out of four stars. Although it was delicious, my stomach didn't handle the red wine sauce that well. The potatoes were nice and creamy. I put mine in the oven to cook.
Mashed potatoes were like a soup and tasted weird. The vegetables in the braised beef were too hard and tasted like biting into a glass of wine... the beef itself was good and tender though
75% mashed potatoes and 25% braised beef. Of the 25% maybe 5% was braised beef. The wine sauce was OK. I'd try another meal, but will probably stick to the ones I make myself.
The sauce was great but the beef was very fatty. Also the carrots were very undercooked. The mashed potatoes were an odd flavor but we liked the texture. That sauce was great but I probably will not order this again because of the meat and carrots.
Yuck. The beef is tender but the garlic butter mashed ruined the dish. I wish I could go back and only used regular butter, salt and pepper in the mashed potatoes. Also, not all of the veggies in the short ribs were properly cooked so it resulted in weird textures in the dish. I would not get this again.
Wish there was less gravy and more meat. I also wish there was more mushrooms. The packaging of the premade meals have broken apart the last two times I have got them.
This was OK, but has the same problem many pre-packaged meals have. Plenty of the starch for 2 people, but the meat/veggies was a very small serving for each of the 2 people that ate this meal.
I wanted to badly to love this but the mashed potatoes were SO salty that I had to find another starch to make. I do love the idea of premade meals but please go easy on the salt!
There were hardly any carrots and a LOT of the little onions. The flavor was good, but I prefer the ratios of the regular "make yourself" meals.
