What’s not to love about the classic hoagie (or sub, or grinder, or wedge) filled with tender meat, melty cheese, and lightly charred veggies? We’ll wait. This version boasts herby, Italian-seasoned chicken, sautéed pepper and onion, gooey mozzarella, and a creamy garlic sauce. It’s all stuffed inside garlic butter baguettes and served with golden brown potato wedges for a dinner that’ll have you head over heels at first bite.

• Adjust racks to top and middle positions and preheat oven to 450 degrees. Wash and dry all produce. • Cut potatoes into ½-inch-thick wedges. Halve, peel, and thinly slice onion. Halve, core, and thinly slice green pepper into strips.

• Toss potatoes on a baking sheet with a large drizzle of oil, salt, and pepper. Roast on top rack until golden brown and crispy, 20-25 minutes. • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, and half the garlic powder (you’ll use the rest later). Season with salt and pepper.

• Heat a large drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add onion and green pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and lightly browned, 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. • Turn off heat; transfer to a plate.

• While veggies cook, in a second small microwave-safe bowl, combine 2 TBSP butter (4 TBSP for 4 servings) and remaining garlic powder; microwave until butter is just softened, 10-15 seconds. Stir to combine and season with salt and pepper; set aside. • Slice baguettes lengthwise, stopping before you get all the way through; spread garlic butter onto cut sides. Place cut sides up on a second baking sheet. • Toast on middle rack until golden, 2-3 minutes.

• While garlic buns toast, pat chicken* dry with paper towels; season generously with salt and pepper. • Heat a large drizzle of oil in pan used for veggies over medium-high heat. Add chicken and Italian Seasoning; cook, stirring, until chicken is browned and cooked through, 4-6 minutes. • Stir in stock concentrate and 2 TBSP water (4 TBSP for 4 servings). Season with salt and pepper. • Return cooked veggies to pan; stir to combine. Turn off heat.

• Spread bottom halves of toasted garlic buns with half the garlic sauce. Top with chicken and veggie mixture, then sprinkle with mozzarella. Return to middle rack until cheese melts, 2-3 minutes. • Divide sandos and potatoes between plates. Serve with remaining garlic sauce on the side.
Was not expecting to be so impressed with this. I had allowed the pre-selected choice go through since this was my first order of Hello Fresh and was totally prepared to not be impressed. Well, what a surprise! Both I and my husband LOVED this Italian Chicken and Pepper Sando meal!!! We even had a bit of left overs. LOVED the sauce additions, the bread was delicious, the chicken was great and tender. Could not have been better Just a wonderful "different" meal compared to the same old same old. Cannot wait for more.
My husband and granddaughter could NOT stop talking about how very delicious the Italian Chicken & Pepper Sandos was. And I agree not only regarding the taste but the ease of preparation!
Loved this recipe! The sandos were absolutely delicious - the garlic sauce tied the meal together, especially. My only qualm was the extremely small size of the potatoes we were sent. I wish they were a bit more medium-sized so we could have thicker and longer wedges more closely resembling the picture!
So much flavor was packed into this meal! The italian chicken paired with the peppers, onions, and garlic sauce was amazing! A bit messy to eat but so worth it!
Really stuffed sandwich! Delicious combo of chicken and peppers topped with a delightful garlic sauce. The fries were the perfect complement to the sando. Hated to see it all gone!
Sooo delicious! We only used 1/2 the Italian Seasoning and not all of the onion or green pepper and it was more than enough. We LOVED the sandos!
The crisp of these Sandos was on point! The sauce was wonderfully sweet. We didn't use all the chicken and peppers, so the next day we threw it into a tortilla with some sour cream and had a great second meal too!
This is in my top 10. The garlic buttered roll and garlic sauce pair well with the Italian seasoned chicken, onions, and bell peppers.
Wow now I see why this one is in the hall of fame. My taste buds went wild after making this and eating it. I love the butter garlic on the bread and the mayo garlic topping. The grilled onions and peppers really complimented the Italian seasoned chicken. You have to try this one, you won't regret it =)
Mushrooms make a great addition. Would advise on a little less Italian seasoning on the chicken or even something different. More than enough meat for more than two sandwiches......I ended up making single open face due to over abundance. Will order again, will just reduce amount of seasoning used or just use simple salt and pepper.
