This Italian-style turnover has everything! Garlicky mushrooms and spinach are sprinkled with Parmesan, then wrapped up in a buttery pizza dough with a blanket of mozzarella. While the outside turns golden and crispy in the oven, fillings melt and meld to form a soft and savory center. Finally, the cheesy stuffed treasures are sliced and dunked in a marinara for an umami punch. Holy stromboli!

Cooking Oil

• Adjust rack to middle position and preheat oven to 425 degrees. Wash and dry produce. • Trim and thinly slice mushrooms (skip if your mushrooms are pre-sliced!). Peel and mince or grate garlic.

• Heat a drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms and cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and slightly crispy, 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. • Add another drizzle of oil, then stir in spinach (you may need to add spinach in batches). Cook, stirring, until spinach is slightly wilted, 1-2 minutes. • Add garlic and half the Italian Seasoning (all for 4 servings). Cook, stirring, until spinach is wilted and garlic is fragrant, 1-2 minutes more. Season with salt and pepper. • Transfer veggies to a medium bowl; let cool slightly.

• While veggies cool, place ½ TBSP butter (1 TBSP for 4 servings) in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave until butter has melted, 30 seconds. • Remove Pillsbury™ Classic Pizza Crust from tube and unroll onto a lightly oiled baking sheet. Slice in half at perforation and use your hands to stretch each piece into a 6-by-8-inch rectangle. (For 4, fully assemble the first two stromboli before starting on the second two so they all fit on the same baking sheet.)

• Spread mozzarella evenly across each piece of dough, leaving a ½-inch border around edges. Top with veggies (draining first if needed) and Parmesan. • Gently roll up each dough rectangle, starting with one of the short sides, to form a log. Arrange logs on sheet, seam sides down; pinch ends to close and tuck under each log. • Brush stromboli with melted butter; lightly season with salt and pepper. Wash out bowl. • Bake on middle rack until deep golden brown and crisp, 14-16 minutes.

• When stromboli are almost done, place marinara in bowl used for butter; cover bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Microwave until sauce is warmed through, 30-45 seconds.

• Transfer stromboli to a cutting board; slice crosswise into quarters. • Divide between plates. Serve with warm marinara on the side for dipping.
This recipe was so easy but satisfying. I liked the fact I can add ingredients of my own each time to make different versions. I love spinach so this recipe was a win for me!
This was so fun to make! I was nervous about making the stromboli with the pizza dough but it turned out fantastic! Will be trying other versions in the future.
This pushed me to make something completely different from what I'm used to, and it was one of the best tasting meals I've had here. Only issue was some confusion on the instructions for the dough - two of the four ended up shaped more like a giant dumpling than a proper roll
Surprised how much I enjoyed the flavor. However, would be WAY better with different mushrooms than white button. Like baby bellas or the like. I also added a little extra mozzarella to balance it out.
I wasn't a complete fan of this, but it wasn't so bad that I wouldn't eat the leftovers! Lol! The spinach mushroom mixture needed more salt, but that's probably my fault. First time ever working with the pizza crust, so it took me a minute and I think I overstretched the dough. The marinara was not good; tasted like tomato paste....not a fan of that at all....
Very good and very interesting! Was great for a veggie pizza like roll. Seemed daunting to make but wasn't! I added more cheese though, was a bit dry all things considered tho perhaps was my fault. Didn't turn out as well as the sausage/pepper/cream cheese one I did in the next box, but maybe it was because on my 2nd go with that one I put more garlic butter/oil over the dough, and it wasn't vegetarian lol. For a healthy/veggie pizza like option, this one was still great tho!
The Stromboli was fine but it's not much of a meal. Needs a salad or fries on the side.
Will definitely make again. Very tasty. This is the first meal that I thought the portions weren't quite right. Just eating 1 stromboli wasn't enough (for 1 portion). More like 3 portions, not 4.
This was good. I didn't roll it up, I just basically made a calzone out of it instead. It hit the 'pizza' spot I was craving & easy to put together.
Super easy! It's basically pizza and you can never go wrong with pizza. 🙂 We added extra garlic & red pepper flakes to give it a kick.
