Cooking Steps

Prep
1

• Wash and dry produce. • Halve, peel, and thinly slice shallot. Trim and discard root end from lettuce; separate leaves. Reserve 6 whole lettuce leaves (12 leaves for 4 servings); finely chop remaining lettuce. Halve tomato lengthwise and thinly slice crosswise into half-moons.

Pickle Shallot
2

• In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine shallot, vinegar, 1⁄2 tsp sugar, and 1⁄4 tsp salt (1 tsp sugar and 1⁄2 tsp salt for 4 servings). Microwave until shallot turns pink, 30-60 seconds. • Set aside to pickle, stirring occasionally.

Cook Beef
3

• Heat a drizzle of oil in a large, preferably nonstick, pan over medium-high heat. Add beef*, stock concentrate, 2 tsp Shawarma Spice Blend (4 tsp for 4 servings) (be sure to measure—we sent more!), half the garlic powder (you’ll use the rest later), a pinch of salt, and pepper. • Cook, breaking up meat into pieces, until cooked through, 4-6 minutes. Carefully drain any excess grease from pan.

Mix Sauce
4

• While beef cooks, in a second small bowl, whisk together yogurt, mayonnaise, and remaining garlic powder. Taste and season with salt and pepper.

Assemble Wraps
5

• Fill lettuce leaves with shredded lettuce, beef, tomato, and pickled shallot (draining first).

Serve
6

• Divide lettuce wraps between plates and drizzle with as much white sauce as you like. Serve.

Ground Meat is fully cooked when internal temperature reaches 160°.

Review summary

Updated on Sep 2026
  • Flavor: The shawarma spice blend and garlicky white sauce are crowd-pleasers; some found the beef mild and recommend using the full spice packet for bolder flavor 🌶️.
  • Ease of prep: Quick and easy to pull together, though the vegetable chopping adds a few extra minutes.
  • Suggestions: If the lettuce leaves are too small to hold the filling, chop everything and serve as a salad bowl — reviewers loved it that way. Some added pita or tortillas on the outside for extra structure, and one reviewer boosted brightness by adding lemon zest to the beef and lemon juice to the sauce.
  • Portions: Many felt the meal was light for dinner; consider adding a side of rice or couscous to make it more filling.
  • Mess: The wraps can be tricky to hold together, so keep napkins handy or embrace the salad-bowl approach for a tidier meal.

So delicious! We were surprised how much the lettuce wraps made it better-we were thinking it was just a healthier choice but it was better than a flatbread! We did wish the sauce had more garlic flavor

Solid meal. Lots of flavor, but not too much spice. I had to add some of my own. And I'm not sure mayo belongs here. I would've preferred more Greek yogurt and sour cream. But I really appreciate trying a lettuce wrap recipe. I've been aiming to for so long.

Fast and easy to cook. Lettuce wraps were a bit flimsy, but still held up

This is the first time we had lettuce wraps and I thought it needed a side to make a complete meal. So I used my veggies to make a nice salad. This turned out to be a favorite. I will order this again.

The serving size is a bit much. I utilize so much more lettuce bc the amount of meat, sauce and pickled shallots. I made about a dozen lettuce wraps.

It's hard to fill the lettuce wraps, but it's a minor issue.

We loved this quick and healthy meal with ground turkey. We loved that it is low carb. The pickled scallions really made it great. I used half of the shawarma spice, which was perfect for us. The only thing we did not like is that it was messy eating. It was hard to keep the lettuce leaves wrapped around the filling. Next time I will shred the lettuce and put the meat and other ingredients on top making a delicious salad.
