What puts the “wonder” in “wonderburger,” you ask? It’s all in the texture! To achieve crispy, craggy edges, we form ground beef into balls, then press down in a hot pan with a spatula to create super-thin patties. In the last few minutes of cooking, we top them with gooey white cheddar, then sandwich each between a potato bun with caramelized onion. A homemade special sauce is perfect for pairing with the Old Bay fries on the side—and will elicit major “oohs” and “ahhs” from your dining companions.

Produced in a facility that processes eggs, milk, fish, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, and wheat.

Cooking Steps

Prep
1

• Adjust rack to top position and preheat oven to 425 degrees. Wash and dry produce. • Cut potatoes into ½-inch-thick wedges. Halve, peel, and thinly slice onion.

Roast Potatoes
2

• Toss potatoes on a baking sheet with a drizzle of oil and half the OLD BAY® Seasoning (you’ll use more later). Season lightly with salt and pepper. TIP: No need to season generously— there’s already salt and pepper in the seasoning! • Roast on top rack until browned and crispy, 20-25 minutes.

Caramelize Onion
3

• While potatoes roast, heat a large drizzle of oil in a medium, preferably nonstick, pan over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and softened, 8-10 minutes. • Add 1 tsp sugar (2 tsp for 4 servings) and a splash of water; cook until onion is caramelized and jammy, 2-3 minutes more. Season with salt and pepper. • Turn off heat; transfer to a small bowl.

Make Sauce & Form Beef
4

• Meanwhile, in a second small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and as much remaining OLD BAY® Seasoning as you like. Set aside. • Form beef* into two equal-sized balls (four balls for 4 servings); season all over with salt and pepper.

Cook Patties
5

• Heat a drizzle of oil in pan used for onion over medium-high heat. Once pan is hot, add beef. Firmly flatten each ball with a spatula to create very thin patties. (TIP: Do so carefully; oil may splatter a bit.) Cook to desired doneness, 3-4 minutes per side. (Don’t worry if the patties aren’t perfectly round—those irregular edges will turn crispy.) • In the last 1-2 minutes of cooking, top patties with cheddar; cover until cheese melts. Remove from heat.

Finish & Serve
6

• While patties cook, halve and toast buns. • Divide buns between plates and fill with patties, caramelized onion, and half the special sauce. Serve Old Bay fries on the side with remaining special sauce for dipping.

This was the second time around for the Wonderburgers, and they were every bit as good as the first time. I'm not usually a fan of Old Bay seasoning, but it went beautifully with the fries, which were crispy yet meaty. Loved the caramelized onions and special sauce, which nicely enhanced the flavor of the tender and juicy burger. A delightful taste experience!

The Wonderburgers were excellent! I do confess that I used the shredded white cheddar cheese in a salad because I am not a fan of cheeseburgers. Yet, I liked the carmelized onion and the Old Bay Fries and special sauce. Fantastic. I do have a suggestion. My apartment has a mere kitchenette so I do not have the counter space I would like for cooking. Do consider pre-slicing the fresh onion so it is pan ready. I do like the way you have measured out the meat portion--just right. The whole entree' made for a quick, easy Sunday dinner. My compliments.

I loved this burger the onions were a great addition on top. The burger sauce was a nice touch to the buns and the white cheddar finished off this sandwich. The old bay fries had excellent flavor and I am in love with them and will continue to use old bay seasoning on my food.

So easy, my husband made it. We were impressed that the burgers stayed juicy and the caramelized onions were the perfect toppings. Great idea to season fries with Old Bay. I am happy to learn how to use spices in other recipes!

Excellent burger! The onions and special sauce really added a lot of flavor to a plain burger. Plenty of cheese included which I like since some recipes I feel do not include enough. Loved the Old Bay fries.

I loved both the burger with the cheese, caramelized onions and special sauce, and the Old Bay potato wedges. Husband and son really liked the potatoes, but weren't fans of the onions and sauce on the burgers. To each his own when it comes to burger toppings... I would order again.

This is just shy of earning a 4-star rating, primarily because the burger itself tasted a little bland. I would get this recipe again, but would add some extra seasoning in with the ground beef. The caramelized onions, special sauce and old bay fries were all delicious! We've had some success making fries in our air fryer instead of in the oven, so would recommend that method for those who have an appliance with an air fry function.

I loved smashing the burger meat into the hot pan. Made a nice crisp. Fries were great with old bay. Im tired of each caramelized onions in these recipes so I did a quick sear on them. I added fresh spinach to cut all that fat. I did not mix my sauces, I added the old bay to the burger along with some lemon granules. I did use dukes mayo and the supplied mustard. ketchup for the fries.
