Have you ever had penne alla vodka and loved the sauce so much you wanted to drink it up with a straw? No? Just us? Well, that’s kind of what this creamy tomato soup is like. It’s got the added bonus of Italian sausage, bright pops of peas, and Italian seasoning to make it extra zesty. There’s also cheesy, crusty baguette to round out the meal. All this in 20 minutes? It’s not just supper, it’s souper!

• Adjust rack to top position and preheat oven to 450 degrees. • Remove sausage* from casing; discard casing. TIP: Use kitchen shears or a sharp knife to cut a slit in the casing lengthwise; it’s a quick way to de-case the sausage!

• Heat 1 TBSP butter (2 TBSP for 4 servings) in a medium pot over medium-high heat. Add sausage and half the Italian Seasoning (all for 4); cook, breaking up meat into pieces, until browned and cooked through, 4-6 minutes.

• While sausage cooks, in a medium bowl, whisk together cornstarch and ½ cup water until combined. • Add tomato paste to pot with sausage. Cook, stirring occasionally, until combined, 30 seconds. • Increase heat to high. Stir in cream sauce base, chicken stock concentrate, mushroom stock concentrate, cornstarch mixture, and 1½ cups hot water (3½ cups for 4 servings); bring to a boil. Cook until thickened, 5 minutes. TIP: If soup seems too thick, stir in another ¼ cup of water. • Remove pot from heat; stir in peas. Taste and season generously with salt (we used ¾ tsp; 1½ tsp for 4) and pepper.

• While soup cooks, halve baguette lengthwise. Place, cut sides up, on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with half the Italian cheese. • Bake on top rack until cheese melts, 4-6 minutes. • Divide soup between bowls; top with remaining Italian cheese. Serve with cheesy bread on the side.
This one is delish. I prefer more veggie soups so I tried making it with only one sausage. It ended up lacking flavor so I added a second one. Overall it was good just wish you would come out with a nice homemade tomato soup /bisque recipe bonus with mild cheddar grilled cheese.
This soup was pretty tasty. I submitted the pork sausage with chicken sausage & added red pepper flakes for a little kick. I would suggest a bigger portion or the marinara sauce because the soup seems lighter in color but that may have been my fault with the slurry. Besides that great recipe and super easy.
"Tomato soup" is a misnomer for this dish because there's barely any tomato paste or tomato flavor. It's more of a creamy sausage soup. HOWEVER, it is incredibly savory, rich, and delicious. One of the best meals we've gotten from Hello Fresh.
The combination of Tomato with the pork and the addition of the peas gave it a nice flavor. Liked that cheesy bread was included.
One of the best soups we've ever had! We loved the pork sausage, cheese, and peas combo! It was surprising and delicious.
This was great even for hubby who is not a fan of regular tomato soup. It was creamy with just a touch of tomato flavor that made both of us happy. We loved the pork sausage in the soup, it made it perfect.
The peas didn't work with and it didn't taste right and I'm echoing that with sausage. It was just weird textures since normal tomato soup is a smooth soup. But the broth was amazing and the bread perfect.
This was definitely a new take on your Campbell's tomato soup. The addition of ground pork sausage, peas and cheese was a delight.
Super easy to make. Rather filling. Tatted great. The bread is a great touch, could use some garlic on the bread. Four serving version had to much sausage and not enough soup. Needs some diced tomatoes in it to be creamy tomato, IMHO. Would make again with suggestions.
When I first made this, I wasn't all that thrilled with the flavor; I found it to be very bland and one-note. But I added a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar to the soup and oh my goodness, what a difference...the flavor popped and my family could not get enough of it! I would definitely recommend adding a small amount of vinegar to your recipe, it was SO delicious!
