There’s nothing more comforting than a warm, hearty bowl of soup–especially when that bowl is actually warm, crusty sourdough bread! Not just any soup will do, though—this rich and creamy tomato soup happens to be extra special. It’s made with a base of flavorful vegetable broth and sweet cream, and it’s chock-full of a medley of tomatoes, garlic, and spices. We wouldn’t leave you hanging without something to dunk into your soup, either: Save the bread you scoop out of the bowl for dipping! The best part? All you have to do is heat it up and dig right in! One slurp will have you (bread) bowled over. *Nutrition values are representative of a 1/2 bundle serving*

Sourdough Bread Bowl

Bring a pot of water to a boil. Place bag in pot; cook for 20 minutes, then carefully remove. (Caution: Bag will be very hot.) Cut one corner with scissors before serving.
MICROWAVE ALTERNATIVE: Cut one corner of the bag; pour soup into a microwave-safe container. (Do not microwave in cup.) Cover loosely with microwave-safe plastic wrap or a paper towel. Microwave on high, stirring halfway through, 5-6 minutes. (Caution: Container and soup will be very hot.)
BREAD BOWL: Adjust rack to middle position and preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut a 2-4-inch circle into the top of the loaf and remove. Scoop out the inside of the bread to create a bowl. Brush inside of bread bowl with 1 TBSP olive oil or melted butter; bake on middle rack until lightly toasted and warmed through, 7-8 minutes.
Super simple to make and incredibly filling! It certainly hit the spot for bread lovers like us! The tomato soup was delicious, I liked the little bit of heat it had. The empty bowl was absolutely delicious to eat after all the soup was gone, the bread soaked up a lot of the soup making for a satisfying finish.
Tasty soup. Added diced tomatoes for extra texture and to make it feed 3 rather than 2. Decided we liked the bread as is, not as a bread bowl. Very soft bread!
Wonderful! Have had the tomato soup before but the bread bowl just made it perfect. I cut up the bread removed from the bowl and toasted it in the oven with about of unsalted seasonings for delicious croutons. Will definitely order again.
Tastes great but the bread/soup ratio is a little bit off. I don't like to throw away food but it's hard to eat that much bread in 1 meal. I saved the "lid" and bread crumbs for the other recipes but we still were unable to finish eating the "bowls" and threw them away as they were soaked in soup and not good for leftover.
For a meal that's so simple--just heat the soup and hollow out the bread--this was quite good and surprisingly filling!
Kids especially loved this lunch! We didn't use our bread as a bowl but sliced it and made garlic bread. Yum!
Can we get bread bowls every week? Love all of the soup offerings, and they are just better in a bread bowl
Soup and bread bowl was good, but I wish the bread bowl was pre-cut.
Very fresh tasting! Now I see why it is always sold out!
So good! This was simple and filling with great flavor.
