
If you’re mad for mushrooms, a fan of fungi, or crazy for creminis, this pasta will treat you right: it’s loaded with ’shroom slices. They’re the flavor backbone of this recipe, bringing all those deep, earthy flavors that you know and love. We’ve added springy cavatappi spirals, a creamy garlic herb sauce, and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese (mushrooms, pasta, and dairy are pretty much best friends, after all). Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil. Wash and dry all produce. Trim and slice mushrooms into ¼-inch-thick pieces. Trim and thinly slice scallions, separating whites from greens.

Heat a large drizzle of olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms; season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and slightly crispy, 5-7 minutes. Turn off heat; transfer to a paper-towel-lined plate. Wash out pan.

Once water is boiling, add cavatappi to pot. Cook, stirring occasionally, until al dente, 9-11 minutes. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water, then drain.

While pasta cooks, melt 2 TBSP plain butter (4 TBSP for 4 servings) in pan used for mushrooms over medium-high heat. Add scallion whites and cook until just softened, 1 minute. Add flour and cook, stirring, until lightly browned, 1-2 minutes. Whisk in milk and ⅓ cup pasta cooking water (½ cup for 4), breaking up any flour clumps. Simmer until slightly thickened, 3-4 minutes.

Stir cream cheese into pan with sauce until melted. Stir in mushrooms, cavatappi, and garlic herb butter. Season with salt and pepper. TIP: If needed, stir in more reserved cooking water a splash at a time until pasta is coated in a creamy sauce.

Divide pasta between bowls and sprinkle with Parmesan and scallion greens. Serve.
This has been one of my family's favorite dishes from when we first started HelloFresh years ago. The actual recipe is so much better, and we love it! It is just overall perfect! The flavor and the creamy sauce with the cavatappi and mushrooms and chicken! So good!! Haven't seen this one in a really long time too, hope you bring this one back.
This creamy dreamy mushroom cavatappi was top notch! The recipe was easy to make, and the sauce came together very nicely. Even my adult daughter, who is very picky, finished her whole bowl. Definitely a four-star recipe.

This should definitely be in the Hall of Fame. So much flavor and bonus points for ease in making. Delicious mushrooms flavored with the mild parmesan and the crunchy scallions. This is another recipe on repeat for my household.
This was very good. I liked the sauce very much and the mushrooms were heavenly with the cavatappi. I used only 1/2 the Herbed Butter, 1/2 the Cream Cheese and no additional butter (just cooked the veggies in a little Olive Oil). I like to keep my fat intake fairly low and I'm used to cooking without a lot of butter. Still, the sauce was creamy and delicious! Leftovers tasted great the next day reheated with a side salad.

The scallions are such a great addition to a classic creamy pasta dish! I threw some red pepper flakes into mine for a little heat. Easy and fun recipe.

When I ordered, I thought this was my usual "creamy dreamy mushroom cavatappi" only with chicken too. It's not, but I think the sauce is better. My biggest complaint is that the sauce:pasta ratio is WAY off. I finally learned to just cook half the pasta. Please fix this!
I am a big fan of the HelloFresh recipes and delivery. Lately each box is a little off. This recipe card called for Creamy Chicken Sausage & Kale Cavatappi. There was no sausage in the box so I bought some and when making inside the bag was mushrooms and no kale and other missing ingredients. Last delivery I received 2 of the same recipe, other times no recipe card and I have to look it up online. Since it is becoming so frequent I wanted to let you know. Thank you
