1 teaspoon
Cooking Oil
Spread sourdough with black truffle butter; place on a clean work surface, buttered sides up. Evenly top half the slices with 2-3 slices of cheddar. Top with remaining bread, buttered sides down.
Heat a drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add sandwiches and cook until bread is golden and cheese melts, 2-3 minutes per side. (Work in batches if necessary.)
Halve on a diagonal and serve.
The truffle butter browned the bread faster than regular salted butter. I cooked it as I'd make a normal grilled cheese, but the bread burned to black in under 2 min with the heat set to medium. It took some trial and error to cook it, but it was delicious once we got it right
Hesitant about the truffle butter but truly like the flavor it adds to the grilled cheese sandwich. Truffle butter is a wonderful complement to the sharp cheddar...don't think the butter would compliment regular cheddar or american cheese (may be good with swiss?). Keep looking for the truffle butter to be sold on its own to be purchased.
I've Never buttered the inside of a grilled cheese before, and I typically don't use sourdough. Really liked the sharp cheddar with the black truffle butter, and I liked how well the sourdough got crunchy. Good, easy, quick! Went great with my homemade tomato soup.
I really wanted to love this. Grilled cheese has always been a favorite of mine. The bread was on the small side but otherwise perfect. It had just the right thickness and crunch. The cheese was ...well...cheesy but I like just about all flavors of cheese. It was the same type I use. The truffle butter was a little more on the pungent side than I'm used to. I've never had it before and I wasn't sure I liked the smell. Overall it was good but not worth the cost for the size and quantity.
This was sooo decadent and delicious. Who knew a grilled cheese could taste so good. I will excuse the fact that the bread was missing, and I had to buy my own sourdough. The truffle butter was definitely the star of this sandwich.
The garlic truffle butter overpowers the cheese. A plain good quality butter would have tasted better.
Tastes like gourmet grilled cheese! The taste so yummy and are bigger and more filling then it looks like in the picture. We will definitely order again. These sandwiches paired with the creamy tomato soup really hits the spot on a rainy day.
Easy to make, extra truffle flavor was subtle but deepend the cheese. Highly recommend!
Would be better with a milder cheese that doesn't overpower the truffle. Maybe a Muenster or Havarti or Provolone/Mozzarella
The truffle butter takes this to another level - great break and treat for lunch during my hectic work day!
