Cooking Steps

1

Keep frozen or refrigerated until ready to eat.

2

RECOMMENDED: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Place bag in pot; cook for 20 minutes, then carefully remove. (Caution: Bag will be very hot.) Cut one corner with sciessors and pour into serving bowl.

3

ALTERNATIVELY: Cut one corner of the bag; pour soup into a microwave-safe container. (Do not microwave in cup.) Cover loosely with microwave-safe plastic wrap or a paper towel. Microwave on high, stirring halfway through, 5-6 minutes. (Caution: Container and soup will be very hot.)

4

GARLIC BREAD: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Place garlic bread on a lightly-oiled baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, about 12 minutes. Separate garlic bread into slices and serve.

Review summary

Updated on Sep 2026
  • Flavor: Most customers found the chowder rich, creamy, and authentically New England in taste 🍲. Some felt it was too thin or lacked enough clams and potatoes; a few found it too fishy or gritty.
  • Ease of prep: Heating is simple — the boil-in-bag method is recommended for best results, though pouring hot soup from the bag can be tricky.
  • Suggestions: Add a pinch of salt if the flavor seems flat, and consider adding extra minced clams or corn to boost heartiness. A few customers found the garlic bread improved with extra butter and garlic spread before baking.
  • Leftovers: The chowder freezes well and makes a convenient quick meal on busy nights, though it's best consumed within a day or two of opening.

It is very close to my own home made clam chowder, YUMMY and the garlic bread crunchy on outside and soft on inside. Perfect!

This is really the best clam chowder I've ever had, in a long while! Impressive & filling, served with Hello Fresh garlic bread! Yum!

So very good. Easy, easy, and easy! It could have a few more clam bits in it.

I'm picky about clam chowder. This one is good and I'm a repeat buyer. It's not the best I've ever had, but the soup/bread bundle is so quick, reasonably priced (esp. when on sale), and tasty.

Delicious flavor, lots of clams, comparable to big Y's homemade clam chowder.

My son absolutely loved this soup and it was so easy for me to prepare with French bread. This meal saved me, when I was limited on time, and my son was starving.

Perfectly cooked potatoes and not too chewy clams - yum!

Being from New England this was very bland, and barely had any clams. Garlic bread we had to doctor up as well - added more butter, garlic and parmesan cheese. Added the bread to the soup, which did help with the chowdah being more flavorful. Pretty much all the meals I have enjoyed, but not so much with this one.
