Did you know: The sandwich dates back to the 18th century and the OG sandwich maker John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich? Those noble beginnings set the stage for all the iterations of bread and fix-ins you know and love. This one in particular won’t disappoint: toasted sourdough bread is spread with pesto, then topped with prosciutto, mozz, and sun-dried tomatoes. Each gets perfectly melty on the stovetop before slicing and serving. *Nutrition values are representative of a 1/4 bundle serving.*
8 ounce
Mozzarella Cheese
(Contains: Milk)
8 piece
Sourdough Bread
(Contains: Soy, Wheat)
2 ounce
Prosciutto
2 ounce
Pesto
(Contains: Milk)
1.5 ounce
Sun-Dried Tomatoes
1 tablespoon
Butter
(Contains: Milk)
Finely chop sun-dried tomatoes. Spread half of the bread slices with pesto; place on a clean work surface, pesto sides up. Top with prosciutto, cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, and remaining bread.
Heat 1 TBSP butter in a large pan over medium heat. Add sandwiches and cook until bread is golden and cheese melts, 4-6 minutes per side. (Work in batches if necessary, adding more butter if needed; lower heat if browning too quickly).
Cut each sandwich in half on a diagonal. Serve.
The flavors are great, and this is an easy sandwich to make. I think a little more pesto and some fresh tomatoes would take this over the top. I added some tomatoes from my garden, and it was the perfect fresh pop to an otherwise rich sandwich.
I really enjoyed these! The kids were kind of so-so. I think the pesto kind of threw them off. These are tasty and they give you plenty of ingredients. The prosciutto they only give enough for 1 slice per sandwich. I think maybe just a smidge extra on that would've been nice. I feed a bunch of growing males- they like their meat.
Best grilled cheese I've ever eaten. The sun-dried tomatoes added just a little sweetness, and the pesto was very good. The amount of food for the price was great - I'll definitely get it again.
We had some leftover garlic & herb butter which was super good on the outside of these instead of regular butter before toasting! Our prosciutto arrived warm so we had to buy and use our own so we can't rate the meat itself but the recipe was good!
For four sandwiches, we received just one super thin slice each of prosciutto! Whaaaat? I had to add ham to the sandwiches so my family didn't complain that it was basically a grilled cheese sandwich. The sun-dried tomatoes added good flavor. It would have tasted better with fresh basil instead of the pesto.
Probably could have used a little more prosciutto or maybe ham also? We liked this sandwich and because I made a soup to go with it, we got 2 meals out of it.
Good. But, pesto overpowered when used as directed. Second batch was much better, using 1/3 the recommended pesto. Allowed the prosciutto and sun-dried tomato flavors to surface.
Same pesto problem as the Caprese sandwiches. Do you know I could not taste pesto or prosciutto or very much sun dried tomatoes? That's just weird! You supplied plenty of those items!! By the 3rd sandwich (it's just me) I made it a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Though I did LOVE the extra cheese and perfectly fried bread!
These had great flavor, but the only thing there was enough of was bread and cheese. Needs more prosciutto, more sun dried tomatoes, and more pesto for sure.
Delicious!! It would be nice for these to come in bags with the ingredients too so I know which goes to which sandwich.
