We love a lettuce wrap. The crisp crunch, the perfectly cradled filling, and that satisfied-but-not-stuffed feeling afterward–what a perfect dinner idea! This version features fragrant, shawarma-spiced ground turkey scooped into lettuce leaves, topped with fresh tomato and tangy pickled onion, drizzled with creamy lemon-garlic sauce, and finished with crunchy almonds and hot sauce. It’s all ready in a quick 30 minutes—just keep napkins handy until you master your lettuce wrap-eating technique.

Produced in a facility that processes eggs, milk, fish, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, and wheat.

Cooking Steps

Prep
1

• Wash and dry produce. • Halve, peel, and thinly slice half the onion; finely dice remaining half. Quarter lemons. Trim and discard root end from lettuce;separate leaves. Dice tomato.

Pickle Onion & Make Sauce
2

• In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine sliced onion, juice from one lemon, ½ tsp sugar, salt, and pepper. (For 4 servings, use juice from two lemons and 1 tsp sugar.) Microwave for 30 seconds; set aside to pickle, stirring occasionally. • In a separate small bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, ¾ tsp garlic powder (1½ tsp for 4), and a squeeze of lemon juice. (You’ll use the rest of the garlic powder in the next step.) Season white sauce with salt and pepper.

Cook Turkey
3

• Heat a drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add diced onion and a pinch of salt; cook, stirring, until slightly softened, 2-3 minutes. • Add turkey*, Shawarma Spice Blend, and remaining garlic powder; generously season with salt and pepper. Cook, breaking up meat into pieces, until browned and cooked through, 4-6 minutes. • Stir in stock concentrates and ¼ cup water (1/3 cup for 4 servings), then reduce heat to medium low and simmer, scraping up any browned bits from bottom of pan, until slightly thickened, 1-2 minutes. Taste and season with salt and pepper if desired. TIP: Stir in a splash of water near the end of cooking to make sure your turkey is nice and saucy!

Assemble & Serve
4

• Divide lettuce between plates. Fill with turkey, tomato, and as much pickled onion as you like (draining first). • Drizzle wraps with white sauce and as much hot sauce as you like; sprinkle with almonds. Serve with any remaining lemon wedges on the side.

Ground Turkey is fully cooked when internal temperature reaches 165°.

Review summary

Updated on Apr 2026
  • Flavor: The shawarma spice blend creates delicious, well-balanced flavors that many found surprisingly satisfying and flavorful.
  • Ease of prep: Super easy and quick to make in about 30 minutes with simple one-pan cooking.
  • Suggestions: Many turn this into a chopped salad since lettuce leaves are often too small for wrapping. Consider adding rice or pita for extra substance.
  • Leftovers: Keeps well when components are stored separately and makes great next-day lunches.
  • Pickled onions: Customers love learning the quick microwave pickling technique — it's surprisingly easy and adds amazing tangy flavor! 🧅

I really like the Shawarma lettuce wraps so much more than the cheeseburger wraps. The spices were terrific. This wrap I thought so much easier to put together than the cheeseburger. PS All your meats are so good. Not an excess amt of fat. Note: You forgot to add to sauce a sprinkle or two of water so that it drizzles. Without doing that it doesn't drizzle. Surprised you left that out for all others of similar nature you always include water to thin.

These lettuce wraps are messy but worth it because they are delicious. They have so much spice and flavor, both on the turkey and in the white sauce. I did end up with quite a few extra lettuce leaves that were too small to use and there is probably more pickled onion and tomato necessary compared to the amount of meat. But all together this was a great dish.

We loved this dish! I substituted the ground turkey for the chopped chicken breast and it was delicious. Your shawarma seasoning blend is perfection and if I could buy bottles of it I would. We added a small amount of turmeric rice(from another of your recipes) to our lettuce cups for a wee bit more substance. So so yummy!

These lettuce wraps were delicious. They were flavorful and just the right amount of spice. My son doesn't really like to eat anything green but he tasted the wraps and liked them so much that he asked for seconds. Would definitely recommend this meal.

The best lettuce wrap by far. The turkey is well seasoned, the sauce is excellent, the onions add an excellent flavor, and the almonds finish it up wonderfully.

We love lettuce wraps and Shwarma recipes. This was yummy. We prefer the white sauce with just sour cream--no mayo. We love mayo, just not on the white sauce.

This was a delicious meal! I love all the shawarma dishes, haven't had a bad one yet. Only docked one star because the portions were small. In the other shawarma dishes (for example the street cart bowls), you have additional veggies like tomato or cucumber and a generous helping of rice. I wanted a side or something to go along with this, it just felt like something was missing.
