• In a small pot, bring oats and 2 cups water to a boil (use a medium pot and 4 cups water for 4 servings); reduce to a simmer and cook, stirring, until liquid is absorbed and oats are creamy and tender, 3-5 minutes.
• While oats come to a boil, roughly chop peanuts and dried cherries.
• Once oats are cooked, stir in honey, cinnamon, half the peanut butter, and a pinch of salt.
• Divide oatmeal between bowls; dollop with cherry jam and remaining peanut butter, then sprinkle with peanuts and dried cherries. Serve.
I love PBJ so this was tasty. Also fast and easy to make for a quick lunch when in a pinch. I actually made 1 serving at a time and wish the direction was a little more clear that it was 1/2 of the dried cherries per serving because when I went to make the 2nd serving, I realized there was only 1 bag of dried cherries that I used already the first time.
Wow this was way better than I thought it would be. I'd suggest carefully adding the honey and jam to taste because it's sweet but it was soooo good. Never had oatmeal like this. I also added some almond milk instead of just water
We really liked this oatmeal. And THANK YOU for making one of the free breakfast items vegan! The peanut butter, cherries, chopped peanuts and cherry jam was super good together. We thought it might be really sweet, but it wasn't. Will be adding to our favorites.
Made this an overnight oats recipe instead and added chianti seeds, milk, and some dairy free yogurt. It turned out delicious! Loved the peanut butter and jam flavors along with the various textures from the peanuts and dried fruit.
It is an interesting combo. I didn't really like all of the PB in it. The second portion I made with just the peanuts, honey, cinnamon, sugar, and cherries. I preferred that. I'll eat the PB on toast another time.
Good oats. Too sweet. I did add half the peanut butter in the oats, cinnamon, and then put no the cherries, jam, honey, and nuts on top. One can omit any item on top, but I like to fix the recipe as is the first time trying.
The oatmeal could've benefited from a splash of milk, but overall was good. The cherries were very tart compared to the rest of it, which I guess is a contrast some people enjoy, but I'm not so big on; I might've used used sweeter cherries instead. I really like that it's cherry jam, not grape or strawberry, you don't see cherry jam enough.
This is the best oatmeal I've ever had. Loaded with flavor and kept me full for hours.
This was the first time I ever made "from scratch" oatmeal, and damn. That was amazingly simple and delicious.
Missed the deadline to pick my meals this week, so I was surprised to find that one of the default picks was a breakfast. It took me 2 weeks to get around to cooking this recipe, but I was very impressed with the flavors. I'm not typically an oatmeal or peanut butter lover, but somehow the blend was perfect. The ingredients were packaged so I could easily make a single serving rather than the full serving. So now I'm trying to find it on the menu again.
