Olive Oil

• Adjust rack to middle position and preheat oven to 450 degrees. Wash and dry produce. • Peel and mince or grate garlic. • Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large pan over medium high heat. Add half the garlic; cook, stirring, until fragrant, 30 seconds. • Stir in tomato paste and half the Italian Seasoning (all for 4 servings). Cook, stirring, until combined. • Add meatballs*, ½ tsp sugar, salt, pepper, and ½ cup water. (For 4, use 1 tsp sugar and 1 cup water.) Cook, stirring, until sauce is slightly thickened and meatballs are warmed through, 1-2 minutes. • Stir in 1 TBSP butter (2 TBSP for 4) and turn off heat.

• In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine 2 TBSP butter (4 TBSP for 4 servings) and remaining garlic; season with salt and pepper. Microwave until butter is just softened, 10-15 seconds. • Slice baguettes lengthwise, stopping before you get all the way through; spread cut sides with garlic butter. Place cut sides up on a baking sheet. • Toast on middle rack of oven until lightly browned, 2-3 minutes. • Carefully fill toasted baguettes with meatballs and sauce, then sprinkle with mozzarella. • Return to middle rack until cheese melts, 2-3 minutes more.

• Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, toss mixed greens with Italian dressing until evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

• Divide subs and salad between plates. Serve
I was very shocked that this recipe went with pre-cooked meatballs, given so many other Hello Fresh recipes which have you made. The meatballs were good, and I loved how quick this recipe was. However, the sauce seemed like an afterthought in the spirit of making a quick meal.
The best turkey meatball sub I ever ate! The meatballs were delicious. Tasted a lot like sausage which is gooooood. The lettuces were so delicate and a nice addition to the sub. Please keep this one on your menu.
We loved the turkey meatball subs and used all 8 meatballs. There was lots of flavor but I think there was a mistake in the amount of water and tomato paste. There was only a small packet of paste, and the one cup of water was way too much. I tried leaving the meatballs on the stove after 10 minutes hoping it would thicken up, but it was way too watery. I then had to empty out most of the watery sauce and add my own tomato sauce, to make it nice and thick. Perhaps only 1/3 of water with lots more paste would give it the right amount needed for a good, thick sauce.
The turkey meatballs were very dense making it hard to bite into without sliding out of the bread. In the future, I would slice the meatballs in half. Although, I do not think I will order anything with the precooked turkey meatballs. They were too dense and flavorless.
This is by far my favorite recipe so far! Quick and easy to throw together and soooo good! I hope you start selling the turkey meatballs too!
This is actually a pretty good recipe for meatballs - in context of a couple of quick sammies. The seasoning packet is a little heavy on the oregano, and the recipe could also call for about double the sugar for the sauce. The bread was remarkably good. The greens were a little wilty.
We REALLY like this recipe! The meatballs were tasty and paring it with the salad was great. could use a bit more sauce
Probably one of THE BEST Meatball Subs I have ever eaten... Another KEEPER!
The subs were easy and fantastic. I make a much better salad, so that was just ok.
We cannot say enough good things about these subs!!! These were phenomenal!!! A HUGE hit- we cannot wait to order them again. I couldn't believe they were ground turkey.
