This isn’t your average pita pocket! You’l pair tender, lemony chicken thighs with a za’atar-infused feta spread, plus olive-basil salsa and cucumber slaw for fresh, briny flavors. Then, you’ll simply stuff all your fillings into warm, fluffy pitas for a handheld meal that’s ready in minutes.

Produced in a facility that processes eggs, milk, fish, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, and wheat.

Cooking Steps

Prep
1
  • Wash and dry produce.

  • Dice tomato into ¼-inch pieces. Roughly chop olives. Trim and thinly slice scallions, separating whites from greens. Trim ends from cucumber. Using a peeler, shave cucumber lengthwise into ribbons, rotating as you go, until you get to the seedy core; discard core.

Cook Chicken
2
  • Open package of chicken* and drain off any excess liquid.

  • Heat a drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add chicken and season with salt and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through, 4-6 minutes.

Make Salsa & Spread
3
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, combine tomato, olives, scallion whites, half the basil paste (all for 4 servings), and a pinch of salt.

  • In a separate small bowl, combine sour cream, feta, mayonnaise, half the Zaatar Spice (all for 4), salt, and pepper.

Finish & Serve
4
  • In a medium bowl, combine cucumber, coleslaw mix, and a large drizzle of olive oil; season with salt and pepper.

  • Wrap pitas in damp paper towels; microwave until warm and pliable,
30-60 seconds. Halve pitas; gently pull apart to create pockets.

  • Spread insides of pitas with zaatar feta spread, then fill with chicken, olive basil salsa, and cucumber slaw. Divide pitas between plates and serve with any remaining slaw on the side.

Review summary

Updated on Apr 2026
  • Flavor: Mediterranean flavors shine with za'atar, feta, and olive combinations; some found it too salty while others wanted more seasoning.
  • Ease of prep: Quick and simple to make, though some found more prep work than expected for multiple components.
  • Suggestions: Add lemon juice or vinegar to the slaw for brightness; use less za'atar if you prefer milder flavors.
  • Portions: Generous fillings can overflow the pita pockets; consider serving some components on the side or deconstructed as a salad.
  • Slaw: Many found the cucumber slaw bland on its own but better when eaten with all components together.

This was a simple and delicious meal. We loved it, and would absolutely order again. The feta sauce was a bit "grainy" due to the feta texture, and the recipe called for little too much za'atar, but it still worked fine with the rest of the meal. I had to buy fresh slaw mix, because the included package was brown by the time the meal was cooked (4 days after delivery). The vegetables in the box should not spoil within a few days.

Outstanding! The layers of flavor for such a simple prep make this a fast winner and hall of fame candidate. I love the pre-marinated chopped chicken - crazy easy and so tasty. The feta/sour cream/mayo spread was fantastic and the olive and scallion salsa was superb. Also the pitas that came with it are so fluffy but sturdy enough to hold all the ingredients. Love love love this one. Please keep it in rotation!

This meal was not meant for Shrimp. Flavors didn't work. But also too much stuff to put inside the pita. I think this would have been as good on flare bread? Not sure. But 2 sauces (which were excellent) and coleslaw and meat.. just was a mess to eat. Maybe a hoagie? The sauces were new and unique- olives and pesto was awesome. So can't recommend the meal as is.. but I think lots of potential. And Chicken would be the only way to go and use cutlets so big pieces versus small.

Way too many ingredients to fit in the pita bread. After adding the chicken and the salsa, there was no room for any of the salad.

The cucumber slaw felt pointless - also i couldn't fit any of it in the pita pocket so a mostly tasteless side

I made the coleslaw with Mayo and little vinegar, za'atar spice, pepper, garlic, little salt and I think that would pair better

Fun flavors and easy to make a deconstructed pita for a easy lunch salad. I used the extra seasoning packet for the chicken
