Cooking Steps

1

Keep frozen or refrigerated until ready to eat.

2

RECOMMENDED: Bring a pot of water to a boil. Place bag in pot; cook for 20 minutes, then carefully remove. (Caution: Bag will be very hot.) Cut one corner with sciessors and pour into serving bowl.

3

ALTERNATIVELY: Cut one corner of the bag; pour soup into a microwave-safe container. (Do not microwave in cup.) Cover loosely with microwave-safe plastic wrap or a paper towel. Microwave on high, stirring halfway through, 5-6 minutes. (Caution: Container and soup will be very hot.)

Review summary

Updated on Sep 2026
  • Flavor: The gumbo has a rich, well-seasoned base with a satisfying kick — though spice levels vary, so those sensitive to heat may want to have rice or sour cream on hand to dial it down.
  • Ease of prep: Incredibly simple — just heat in the bag or microwave and serve, making it a perfect on-the-go meal after a long day.
  • Suggestions: Serve over a scoop of white rice to stretch the meal further and give it a more authentic gumbo feel 🍲. A few reviewers added extra Cajun seasoning, hot sauce, or andouille sausage to boost the flavor and protein.
  • Portions: The protein pieces — shrimp, chicken, and sausage — are small and finely cut, which many found disappointing; adding your own shrimp or sausage is an easy fix if you want a heartier bowl.

A perfect blend of flavors. You can taste the shrimp, chicken and sausage along with the vegetables. Nothing is overpowering. It also has just a slight amount of heat! With a little file gumbo powder, it's outstanding!

I loved this Gumbo all the ingredients were fresh and delicious. The shrimp and sausage tasted as it the dish was made fresh in my kitchen. I bought another serving and it will become one of my repeat meals.

I received this gumbo again, and although I already rated it 4 stars, I wanted to affirm my previous rating. This gumbo is amazing! It is loaded with chicken, sausage and shrimp, and it is perfectly spicy! Delicious!!!

Easy to prepare this gumbo (completely feel guilty we short cut the entire process of making gumbo!). We simply added our own white rice for the traditional Louisiana serving of the meal.

Really flavorful with a nice kick. Even though we gently heated it through the shrimp were still a little over done but the chicken was juicy. This was two hearty servings. Put a roll with it if you wish and beverage of choice and dinner is served.

I hesitated ordering this as I knew it would not be the traditional gumbo I'm used to preparing in Louisiana. It did not have the same flavor I'm used to but I have to say that I did enjoy it. I added more rice.

Nice level of spiciness...just a warm feeling in the back of the mouth. Really good flavors. Ate this with a person who doesn't like shrimp...it was easy to pick out the shrimps and they enjoyed it. Liked the spicy sausage.

This is a great, easy meal. Just make some rice to go with it and you're in business! I can't give it a 4th star because my homemade gumbo is much better, but it's still pretty good and much easier/faster. The meat is very small, to the point that it's often unidentifiable texturally when you're eating, but still, not bad at all. Will definitely order again.

The flavor was ok. However, there is not hardly any shrimp, chicken or sausage in this. The sausage and chicken pieces are the size of a grain of rice and are few and far to find. There might have been a total of 8 tiny bay shrimp in there. Mostly broth and celery with a few pieces of okra and very few grains of rice. Does not look as pictured. Will not purchase again. Very unfortunate.
