Cooking Steps

COOK BEEF
1
  • Heat a drizzle of oil in a large, preferably nonstick, pan over medium-high heat. Add beef*half the garlic powder (you'll use the rest later), a pinch of salt, and pepper. Cook, breaking up meat into pieces, until cooked through, 4-6 minutes. Carefully drain any excess grease from pan.

PREP
2
  • Meanwhile, wash and dry produce. Quarter cucumber lengthwise; slice into ¼-inch-thick pieces. Dice tomato into ¼-inch pieces.

MAKE SAUCE & SALAD
3
  • In a small bowl, combine yogurt and remaining garlic powder. Taste and season with salt and pepper

  • In a medium bowl, combine cucumbertomatofeta, a drizzle of olive oil, a pinch of salt, and pepper

FINISH & SERVE
4
  • Wrap pitas in damp paper towels; microwave until warm and pliable, 30-40 seconds. Halve pitas; gently pull apart to create pockets. TIP: Halve pitas one at a time to make opening easier and prevent them from sticking. You can also toast them for added texture!

  • Spread insides of each pita pocket with as much sauce as you like, then fill with beef and salad. Drizzle any remaining sauce on top. Serve with any remaining salad on the side. TIP: If you like things spicy, add a drizzle of your favorite hot sauce!

Review summary

Updated on Dec 2025
  • Flavor: Many enjoyed the fresh Mediterranean flavors, though some found it bland and suggested adding Greek seasoning or herbs for more depth.
  • Ease of prep: Quick and simple to prepare, with several mentioning it took less than 15 minutes to make 🎉.
  • Suggestions: Consider adding tzatziki sauce, Greek olives, or lemon juice for more authentic flavor. Try toasting pitas for better texture.
  • Portions: Some felt servings were small; adding a side salad or rice pilaf could make it more filling.
  • Customization: Experiment with ground lamb or chicken instead of beef for different flavor profiles.

I actually really enjoyed these. So quick and easy to cook. I added Cava's harissa paste to the pita for spice and flavor and that was perfect. Otherwise this should probably come with hot sauce.

This was really good. Not sure why it's called Greek, however, since the only spice in it was garlic... would have expected Greek seasoning somewhere. Or tzatziki dip.

We loved this. Your Greek meals are usually terrific if it's not loaded with chickpeas and hummus.

Love this recipe and how simple it was to cook, it would have been nice to have fresher ingredients though. Our tomato was practically white.

I mixed the beef with the vegetables and it made it into an equally delicious salad

This was so good! I added onion and kalamata olives to the salad.

Loved the salad. The flavor was delicious! It paired well with the burger and pita bread. I think the sauce was too tangy and maybe sour cream would have been better. I didn't like the yogurt flavor.

Cool recipe idea. We combined the tomato/cucumber/feta mixture directly with the sauce and it was also great! Just wish the cucumber was bigger than the tomatoes. Meal tasted delicious though.

This recipe needed a lot of help. A lemon would be good to add to the flavor profile. There needs to be some kinds of seasoning (beyond salt & pepper) for the beef. We doubled the garlic and warmed the pita bread in a pan with garlic butter just to improve the overall flavor of the dish.

It was quick to make, which was nice. I think it was missing flavor. The ground beef needed more than just half of the garlic powder. Instead of yogurt with half of the garlic powder, tzatziki sauce would have been more flavorful. The salad had a nice flavor.
