• Wash and dry produce. • Halve, peel and thinly slice half the onion (all for 4 servings). Quarter lemon. Dice tomato into 1⁄2-inch pieces. Trim and dice cucumber.

• In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine sliced onion, 1⁄2 tsp sugar (1 tsp for 4 servings), juice from half the lemon, and a large pinch of salt. Cover with plastic wrap; microwave for 60 seconds. Set aside to pickle, stirring occasionally. • In a separate small bowl, combine tomato, cucumber, half the oregano, and a drizzle of olive oil (all the oregano and a large drizzle of olive oil for 4). Season with salt and pepper. • In a third small bowl, combine sour cream, yogurt, and half the garlic powder (you’ll use the rest of the garlic powder in the next step). Season with salt and pepper. Stir in water 1 tsp at a time until mixture reaches a drizzling consistency.

• Open package of chicken and drain off any excess liquid. • Heat a drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add chicken in a single layer; season with half the Shawarma Spice Blend (all for 4 servings), remaining garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through, 4-6 minutes. TIP: If you added any other items to your meal (apps, sides, and/or dessert), you can get started on them now!

• Wrap pitas in damp paper towels and microwave until warm and pliable, 60 seconds. • Serve pickled onion (draining first), tomato-cucumber salad, white sauce, chicken, pitas, and remaining lemon wedges family style so everyone can build their own plate. (Don’t forget to serve with any extra items you may have ordered to build out your meal!)
Poultry is fully cooked when internal temperature reaches 165°.
The chicken shawarma pita bar was delicious. I would definitely re-order it again. It was flavorful and easy to make. The only downside was the pitas you can't eat it like a pita without it breaking in half. So, you have to eat it like a bowl with the pita on the side to act as 'pita chips' like at Cava.
I ordered a double on this recipe as my husband loved chicken thighs and I thought he would really like it. He did but I think I liked it more! I was missing out of one of the bundles a shawarma seasoning and an oregano packet. This was easily solvable as I always have oregano and I looked up a recipe online for shawarma seasoning. I liked learning what exactly shawarma was!
Always love anything with shawarma seasoning. This was very tasty and easy to make. Pitas were a little stiff, helped a little to warm them up in the microsite.
This shawarma chicken is one of my husband's new favs. I toasted in the oven and cut them open and made pockets.
Love anything shawarma! Great spices/flavors, and easy to make. The lower calorie count is appreciated too.
I used only 1 packet of shawarma seasoning and it was perfect! Chicken was tender and juicy and flavor mild enough for child. Delicious
It was good but I feel like the meat and veggie proportions were way off. You get stuck with a lot of pita, but the chicken was very flavorful
Need more pitas, not all food fits in 1 pita per person and don't have rice or anything to eat the rest with. Then also the chicken needs more of the shawarma packet had to add more other seasonings even after adding salt and pepper and garlic powder. But sauce and the two add ons were delicious
The flavors were amazing! Loved the onion side dish and the white sauce. The chicken was very tender and flavor full. I added some fresh garlic and the rest of the onion. The pita pockets were a mess..they fell apart
The flavor was great, chicken was more fatty than I prefer and the pita was really thick which made it difficult to eat with all the fillings.
