Pat tilapia fillets dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
Heat 1½ tablespoons cooking oil in a large nonstick pan over medium heat. Add tilapia to hot pan. Sear 2-3 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked.
Remove from heat. Transfer tilapia to a plate.
