Cooking Steps

Prep
1
  • Adjust racks to top and middle positions and preheat oven to 425 degrees. Wash and dry produce.

  • Cut potatoes into ½-inch-thick wedges. Halve, peel, and thinly slice onion. Cut each cheddar slice into 6 small squares (you'll have 12 squares total; 24 squares for 4 servings). Trim and discard root end from lettuce; dry leaves thoroughly, then chop into bite-size pieces.

Roast Potatoes
2
  • Toss potatoes on a baking sheet with a drizzle of oilFry Seasoning, salt, and pepper.

  • Roast on top rack, tossing halfway through, until crisp and tender, 20-25 minutes.

Start Caramelized Onion
3
  • Heat a large drizzle of oil in a large, preferably nonstick, pan over medium-high heat. Add onion; cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and softened, 8-10 minutes. TIP: Lower heat and add a splash of water if onion begins to brown too quickly.

Finish Caramelized Onion
4
  • Add 2 TBSP water, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (you'll use more later), and 1 tsp sugar to pan with onion (use 4 TBSP water, 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce, and 2 tsp sugar for 4 servings); cook, stirring, until caramelized, 2-3 minutes.

  • Season with salt and pepper. Turn off heat; transfer to a small bowl. Wipe out pan.

Form Patties
5
  • In a large bowl, combine beef*, 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (2 tsp for 4 servings), salt, and pepper. (Be sure to measure the Worcestershire—we sent more!)

  • Form mixture into six ½-inch-thick patties (12 patties for 4).

Cook Burgers
6
  • Heat a drizzle of oil in pan used for onion over medium-high heat. Add patties; cook to desired doneness, 2-3 minutes per side. TIP: Carefully drain any excess grease from pan if needed.

  • Turn off heat; top each patty with two squares of cheddar. Cover pan until cheese melts, 1-2 minutes.

  • While cheese melts, place buns directly on middle oven rack; toast until warmed through, 2-3 minutes.

Finish & Serve
7
  • In a medium bowl, toss together lettucedressing, and Parmesan. Season with salt and pepper.

  • Once buns are toasted, gently separate tops from bottoms. Fill buns with caramelized onion and patties.

  • Divide sliders, salad, and oven fries between plates. Serve with ketchup and smoky mustard on the side.

Review summary

Updated on Apr 2026
  • Flavor: The smoky mustard is a standout hit that pairs perfectly with caramelized onions. Some found the burgers mild and suggest adding extra seasonings or mayo for more flavor.
  • Ease of prep: Simple and quick to make with kid-friendly steps, though caramelizing onions may need extra time. Some found it messier than expected with multiple components to manage.
  • Suggestions: Form patties thinner to prevent shrinkage and ensure even cooking. Consider making 4 larger sliders instead of 6 for better meat-to-bun ratio.
  • Leftovers: Generous portions often provide 2-3 meals from one kit — great value! 🍲 Many families enjoyed leftovers for lunch the next day.
  • Salad: Caesar salad would benefit from croutons; some found the dressing too pungent or bland.

The sliders were good! They were simple to make, and easy for me to make a veggie version with Impossible ground "meat" for my vegetarian daughter, and use the ground beef for the rest of the family. Caramelized onions are always yummy (though they are better cooked in butter, rather than oil, as your recipe indicates), and the smoky mustard sauce was a definite win! My daughter and I both loved it. There was probably no need to include ketchup, as everyone has that on hand already. The Caesar salad was kind of a throwaway side, but I appreciate the attempt at including a fresh vegetable element along with the potatoes. (But there were no croutons! Caesar salad needs croutons!!). The roasted potato wedges are honestly included with far too many meals and are not that good. They take longer to cook than is indicated on your recipe cards and never get crispy. I like a potato side, but would appreciate variety in cooking methods and flavors.

Husband liked the bread to meat ratio but thought it would have been better with a special sauce instead of just mustard and ketchup on the side. I appreciated the simple salad on the side. I should have either made the sliders thinner or cooked them longer because a couple of them were not completely done in the middle.

Nice to feel full and satisfied after a meal so thank you! I think more of the smoky mustard would have made these better, it was only enough for one serving even though two of us were eating so I had to use a different sauce on my sliders which was a bummer because it was really good mustard!

Family loved the sliders, who doesn't love mini cheeseburgers! Fries are always a hit. It's great to have a fresh caesar salad!

The smoky mustard is the best, the ketchup in this recipe was like so vinegary had so much bite to it.

Delicious meal with a good sized portion. The fry seasoning was a bit bland I guess heavier on the salt would have made them better. The salad was huge with leftovers as were the potatoes and one was forgotten in the cooking process.
