Cooking Steps

1

About 1 hour before you’re ready to cook, remove prime rib from packaging; place on a baking sheet (larger side down) and allow to come to room temperature.

2

Adjust rack to middle position and preheat oven to 275 degrees.

3

Tent prime rib loosely with foil. Roast on middle rack until cooked to desired doneness, 1½-2 hours. Transfer to a cutting board to rest, at least 15 minutes.

4

Once prime rib has rested, slice and transfer to a serving platter. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, 1 tsp sugar, and as much horseradish paste as you like. Season with pepper. Serve with creamy horseradish aioli on the side.

Review summary

Updated on Dec 2025
  • Flavor: Many loved the tender, juicy prime rib, though some found the seasoning too peppery or odd-tasting.
  • Ease of prep: Consider browning the fat cap and all sides for outstanding results.
  • Suggestions: Adjust pepper in the rub to taste; a doneness and cooking time chart would be helpful.
  • Portions: Opinions varied on serving size; some found it generous while others felt it was smaller than expected.
  • Versatility: The separate horseradish aioli pleased both fans and non-fans of horseradish 🍲.

Keith doesn't like horseradish and I love it. Love the fact that it's separate so made his without and mine with. Didn't realize this was precooked but was very pleasantly surprised. Very tender, nice and pink. Did brown the fat cap and on all sides and recommend that. Was outstanding and will buy again from you.

The meat quality was amazing. But, there is too much pepper in the rub to my liking.

There was a lot of fat, some is to be expected but this roast was fattier than expected.
