Our first ever mashed potato bowl is here, and why didn’t we think of it sooner? Huge props to T-Pain’s culinary prowess—you’re truly an inspiration! This classic pairing of chicken and potatoes brings an exciting twist to the table: The chicken is dredged in a sweet, smoky, and spicy flour mixture before it’s sizzled to golden, juicy perfection. You'll nestle it into buttery mashed potatoes along with tender-crisp green beans. Smother it all with lots of rich, creamy gravy (and a drizzle of hot sauce if you like, you do you!).

• Adjust rack to top position and preheat oven to 425 degrees. Wash and dry produce. • Dice potatoes into ½-inch pieces. (TIP: For a smoother texture, peel potatoes first.) Trim green beans if necessary.

• Place potatoes in a medium pot with enough salted water to cover by 2 inches. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, 10-12 minutes. • Reserve ½ cup potato cooking liquid (1 cup for 4 servings), then drain. Return potatoes to pot and cover to keep warm.

• While potatoes cook, toss green beans on a baking sheet with a drizzle of oil, salt, and pepper. • Roast on top rack until tender and browned, 12-15 minutes.

• Pat chicken* dry with paper towels. • In a shallow dish, combine Brown Sugar Bourbon Seasoning, half the flour, half the garlic powder, and as much chili powder as you like (we used ½ tsp; 1 tsp for 4 servings. Add more if you like it extra-spicy!). Press chicken into flour mixture to evenly coat. • Heat a drizzle of oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add chicken; cook until browned and cooked through, 6-8 minutes per side. Turn off heat; transfer to a cutting board. Wipe out pan and let cool slightly.

• Return pan used for chicken to medium heat and add 1 TBSP butter (2 TBSP for 4 servings). Once butter has melted, add remaining flour and cook, whisking constantly, until a loose paste forms, 30-60 seconds. • Add stock concentrates and 1⁄3 cup water (2⁄3 cup for 4); cook, whisking constantly, until gravy has thickened, 1-2 minutes. • Remove pan from heat and whisk in sour cream. Taste and season with salt and pepper if desired.

• To pot with potatoes, add 1 TBSP butter (2 TBSP for 4 servings) and remaining garlic powder. • Mash until smooth, adding splashes of reserved potato cooking liquid as needed. Taste and season with salt and pepper if necessary.

• Slice chicken crosswise. • Divide mashed potatoes between bowls. Top with chicken and green beans in separate sections; drizzle everything with gravy. (Add a drizzle of your favorite hot sauce for an extra kick!) Serve.
Chicken is fully cooked when internal temperature reaches 165°.
I am weirdly obsessed about a full meal in a bowl, and this was delicious! I am not typically big on homestyle-meals, mashed potatoes, or gravy (weird, I know!), but this combination was easy and delicious! Plus the chicken was so tasty and seasoned to perfection, and the green beans were the perfect compliment. All the textures and flavors came together beautifully. A total flavorbomb in all the best ways while still being homey comfort food (which I usually find bland and boring).
THIS WAS AMAZING!! I would love for this to be a regular menu item, this was so good! My husband loved it, the chicken was delicious and the gravy was perfection! We used all the chili powder and it wasn't what I would call spicy at all but it was so savory and good! T-Pain knows what's up!
Absolutely delicious! I have learned from other HelloFresh recipes to avoid the 425° oven temps for green beans so I cooked them at 375° for 25 minutes and the timing to assemble to bowl was perfect. Thanks T-Pain for a fantastic meal!
A-freaking-mazing. 12/10, would get again. The green beans? Delicious. The chicken? Delicious. The gravy/sauce? So stinking good. Hope this stays in regular rotation! (Hey T-Pain, ya have any other recipes you want to share? Hmu!) lol yes it's THAT good.
The green beans were very fresh. The brown sugar bourbon spice on the chicken was delicious. There were a lot of things to do at once. My one complaint is that there is not enough gravy to go over the chicken and the potatoes.
Really good meal, although to be honest we opted not to serve this as a "bowl" meal, instead going for a more traditional separate items presentation. Also, rather than oven roasting the green beans, I trimmed and cut them into bite size pieces and sauteed them in 1 Tbs butter + salt and pepper until tender. Otherwise though, everything else was great-and finally I've learned that cooking chicken a little longer on slightly lower heat (medium rather than medium-high on the burner setting) has far better results than I've gotten in the past.
This meal was delicious. I substituted my own corn (green beans were not fresh). The seasoning for the chicken was delicious and the gravy was over the top good. It brought the whole dish together...I almost licked my bowl.
3 VERY good meals. I nuked the Green Beans and fried the Chicken in bite sized pieces. The seasoning on the Chicken and the Gravy was super good.
I could not get the potatoes to become soft even after boiling them to death. That was frustrating. Need more green beans in this recipe. Gravy and chicken were delicious.
This dish was delicious. I usually think the portion sizes are pretty good with these meals. However, this dish needed another bag of green beans and 2 more potatoes to be enough for a meal for 2.
