Think you need a fancy meal to really treat your tastebuds? These fried chicken sandwiches beg to differ! Chicken cutlets are spread with sour cream, coated in garlicky panko, and fried until golden and crispy. Toasted buns are stuffed with chicken and a layer of spicy honey-mustard mayo, and the rest of that tangy-sweet dipper is served on the side with roasted carrot fries. It’s casual, downhome comfort food at its finger lickin’ finest!

Produced in a facility that processes eggs, milk, fish, peanuts, sesame, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, and wheat.

Cooking Steps

Prep
1

• Adjust rack to top position and preheat oven to 425 degrees. Wash and dry produce. • Trim, peel, and cut carrot into sticks (like fries; ours were 3 inches long and 1⁄3 inch thick). Halve buns. • In a shallow dish, combine panko, garlic powder, salt (we used 1 tsp; 2 tsp for 4 servings), and pepper.

Roast Carrots
2

• Toss carrots on a baking sheet with a large drizzle of olive oil. Season generously with salt and pepper. • Roast on top rack until tender, 15-20 minutes.

Coat Chicken
3

• Pat chicken* dry with paper towels; place between two large pieces of plastic wrap. Pound with a mallet or rolling pin until chicken is about 1⁄2 inch thick. Season all over with salt and pepper. • Brush chicken all over with sour cream. Working one piece at a time, press chicken into panko mixture until fully coated on both sides.

Fry Chicken
4

• Heat a 1⁄3-inch layer of oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pan over medium- high heat. Once oil is hot enough that a pinch of panko mixture sizzles when added to the pan, add coated chicken. Cook until crust is golden brown and chicken is cooked through, 3-5 minutes per side. TIP: Fry in batches if necessary; lower heat if chicken begins to brown too quickly. • AIR FRYER ALTERNATIVE: Coat an air fryer basket with cooking spray; arrange coated chicken side by side in basket. Coat tops of chicken with cooking spray. Air fry at 390 degrees for 6 minutes. Flip chicken and coat again with cooking spray; air fry until cooked through and crispy, 6 minutes more.

Mix Mayo & Toast Buns
5

• In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, honey Dijon dressing, and hot sauce to taste (we used the whole packet). Season with salt and pepper. • Toast buns until golden brown.

Finish & Serve
6

• Spread top buns with as much honey mustard mayo as you like. Fill buns with chicken. • Divide sandwiches and carrots between plates. Serve with any remaining honey mustard mayo on the side for dipping.

Review summary

Updated on Apr 2026
  • Flavor: The honey mustard sauce is a standout that elevates the whole dish, though many found it lacking garlic flavor despite the name.
  • Ease of prep: This is a time-consuming, messy meal that often takes much longer than expected with lots of cleanup required.
  • Suggestions: Add lettuce, pickles, or cheese to brighten the sandwich; use egg wash instead of sour cream for better breading adhesion.
  • Portions: Not enough sour cream provided to coat all chicken pieces; some wanted larger portions and more carrots.
  • Carrots: Mixed reactions with some loving the roasted carrot fries while others strongly preferred sweet potato or regular fries instead.
  • Air fryer: Many successfully used air fryer instructions, though some found stovetop frying gave better crispiness and flavor.

Swapped mayo with garlic aioli & added rosemary blend, paprika, onion powder and garlic to carrots and panko mix. Absolutely delicious. Ate one as a caprese sandwich with mozzarella, tomato, pesto and balsamic glaze on the chicken. Very good

I baked my chicken in the oven instead of frying. Also added some parm and olive oil to the crumb topping. It turned out wonderful. Carrot fries were a neat idea and well enjoyed. Added a little extra hot sauce, in addition to the included pack to the honey mustard mayo for an extra spicy kick. (I used the "last dab" APOLLO by hot ones) AMAZINGLY GOOD SAUCE. An overall solid, simple, and tasty meal.

Soooo yummy! The chicken sandwich, along with the roasted carrots, made a fantastic dinner. The menu indicated "garlicky fried chicken" but we added quite a bit more of garlic powder from our own pantry to kick it up a notch. Loved the bun, but we hallowed out the bottom to give it more room for the chicken. Definitely one of my favorites!

Delicious, but how is this a garlicky chicken sandwich with no garlic in the recipe at all?

Yum, yum, yum! Garlicky fried chicken sandwiches & toasted carrots! Delish! Each meal tantalizes the senses. They look wonderful-just as pictured, smell amazing and taste so delish! These are restaurant quality meals that we make at home for a fraction of the price (considering initial discounts).

I changed up the recipe. I marinated the chicken in hot sauce then follow the steps. I also added garlic on the carrots. It was good. Spicy Garlic Fried Chicken Sandwich. <3

The honey mustard is the best! And carrots fries are a refreshing change to French fries. We added pickles to the chicken sandwiches and they were perfect!

A quick and easy meal. Everyone liked the carrot "fries" and the chicken was juicy and not dry. I made some of the honey mustard sauce with the hot sauce and some without.

We've tried the roasted carrots and they always come out rubbery and not crispy. Fried chicken is always good, but I would have loved maybe a choice of sauces to try? The zingy gouda burger introduced us to sauces to jazz up sandwiches - more than the honey mustard and mayo kind. Still yummy, just time consuming.
